“I was inspired by the Beliefs and Rituals, Taste of Heritage, and Family Life creative briefs. Those themes will be incorporated into a portrait of the daily lives in my community, including how we pray, how we celebrate Eid Al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the food we cook in our homes, and more. I can’t wait to get started on this project.”
Meet Kartika
Kartika Paramita (she/her) is an illustrator and surface pattern designer from Indonesia, which has the world’s largest Muslim majority.
In 2018 Kartika started a personal project about the Eid Mubarak religious holiday, illustrating envelope designs for the Eid Al-Fitr festival. She was surprised at the enthusiastic response to her designs, and several large brands approached her to create illustrations for Eid Mubarak. The experience made her aware that her illustrations can bring visibility to her communities'. Kartika is excited that the Adobe Artist Development Fund commissioned her to create illustrations with her style that are also relevant to her community. She says, “I was inspired by the Beliefs and Rituals, Taste of Heritage, and Family Life creative briefs. Those themes will be incorporated into a portrait of the daily lives in my community, including how we pray, how we celebrate Eid Al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the food we cook in our homes, and more. I can’t wait to get started on this project.”
