“Working on long video project, I heard indigenous voices and realized that I was knowledgeable about a history that a lot of other mestizos, Mexicans, and Mexican Americans know that is rarely shared. Although we have indigenous roots, we’re not always seen in that light because of our colonial past and other reasons. I'd love to adapt those images and share them through Adobe Stock.”
Meet German
German Torres (he/him) is a Mexican American director based in Los Angeles, California. His work has become a reflection of people overcoming adversities. Visually, he is not afraid to break the rules, and often blurs the lines between reality and fiction. His goal is to tell stories of marginalized people and cultivate empathy.
German’s parents are immigrants from Mexico, and although he was born in the U.S., he is still deeply connected to his roots. His work explores individual portraits and visual motifs to show the evolution and influence of indigenous culture and modern Mexican culture. For his Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund project, German found that the Celebration of Self, Joyful Rhythm, and Healing Reflections creative briefs best reflected his themes. He says, “Working on a long video project, I heard indigenous voices and realized that I was knowledgeable about a history that a lot of other mestizos, Mexicans, and Mexican Americans know that is rarely shared. Although we have Indigenous roots, we’re not always seen in that light because of our colonial past and other reasons. I'd love to adapt those images and share them through Adobe Stock.”
