“As a Latina woman, I really like to represent everything that we fight for, so I include messages of empowerment in my work. I use many different skin colors for my characters, usually green, blue, or pink. The color of the skin is not important; the important thing is that the message is for everyone.”

Meet Martha

Martha Castillo (she/her, also known as Faceless) is a Peruvian graphic designer and illustrator. Through her social media presence and her podcast, Un tecito de realidad, Martha shares her personal experiences about self-love and self-acceptance. Her illustrations combine color with texture and typography to express what she feels in that moment—and create new connections with others.

Martha’s work explores a wide variety of themes, depicting not only the lives of women and queer people, but social justice and the history and culture of Peru. She also enjoys creating humorous illustrations of pop culture figures like Patrick Starfish. Her Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund project was inspired by the Healing Reflections creative brief. Martha says, “As a Latina woman, I really like to represent everything that we fight for, so I include messages of empowerment in my work. I use many different skin colors for my characters, usually green, blue, or pink. The color of the skin is not important; the important thing is that the message is for everyone.”
