“Costa Rica is a country of many different cultures, and I’m seeking to document that diversity in my work. I’m especially interested in portraying family life, and I strive to show the world the best qualities of every person I photograph.”
Meet Leonardo
Leonardo Borges (he/him) is a professional photographer based in Tilarán, Costa Rica. His small town is surrounded by nature, and he finds constant inspiration in the colorful landscapes and people of his community. His work showcases a wide range of individuals, from the LGBTQ+ community to people over 100 years of age, each with their own unique perspective and way of life.
A professional photographer for the last eight years, Leonardo believes his projects give him an opportunity to escape and explore, meeting new people and seeing incredible places inside and outside his country. He believes the Family Life creative brief for his Adobe Artist Development Fund project resonates strongly with his artistic vision. Leonardo says, “Costa Rica is a country of many different cultures, and I’m seeking to document that diversity in my work. I’m especially interested in portraying family life, and I strive to show the world the best qualities of every person I photograph.”
