“Food and family life are inseparable in our culture. There are a lot of communal experiences around cooking and food in our country, and my project provides an opportunity to present not only food images but expand on them to feature the people behind the cuisine.”
Meet Fran
Fran Alvarez (she/her) is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Rizal, Philippines. She is part of Studio Dialogo, a boutique design studio based in Quezon City, Philippines, and a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan, a Filipino organization of artists committed to the creation and promotion of illustrations for children. Fran’s colorful, intricate work is inspired by food, nature, pop culture, childhood memories, and day-to-day life.
Fran’s Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund is based on the Taste of Heritage and Family Life creative briefs. She hopes to feature Filipino food not only as a source of nourishment but also as a love language and an ingredient for keeping communities together no matter where you are in the country. “Food and family life are inseparable in our culture,” she says. “There are a lot of communal experiences around cooking and food in our country, and my project provides an opportunity to present not only food images but expand on them to feature the people behind the cuisine.”
