Circles of Activism

In much media representation, there’s a lack of authentic depictions of activism and the important movements gaining momentum and driving change today.

What images there are, often focus on violence or sensationalism, instead of expressing the nuanced and varied actions diverse individuals and groups are taking every day to make their voices heard.

We want to look deeper and expand our understanding of how social activism looks and feels. With this creative brief, we're making space for new and unique imagery depicting activism against racial prejudice and social injustice; people of all backgrounds taking action on climate change and sustainability; students and elders participating in collective action in their communities, and more.

We are the youth

The youngest activists can be the most passionate as they bend their energy towards shaping their futures. Young leaders, unapologetic and unafraid, with supporters and co-organizers across generations. Vibrant images conveying conviction and emphatic expressions of identity and hope, including activists of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities.

Give back together

Community support, helping hands, non-profits, mutual aid, and charitable causes. Imagery depicting people of different ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and beliefs, out in their communities, helping one another to build a better, more equitable and understanding world.

Joy as resistance

Exultation, triumph, and collective action in pursuit of justice and happiness. Creativity and joyous celebrations of identity and strongly held beliefs and values. Honoring the community in acts of resistance, personal power, and artistic expression.
