“As a documentary photographer and filmmaker, my objective is to learn more about the people in front of my lens and try to create a deeper connection. This has always helped me capture assets that look comfortable, and that are full of emotions. I feel that as an artist, the best I can do is to create a safe space for others to truly express themselves and their feelings, the same way I do.”

Meet Kevin

Kevin Outa (he/him) is a self-taught photographer and filmmaker working in Nairobi, Kenya. His visual style and aesthetic can be described as high contrast, dark, and moody. This approach allows him to capture images exactly as he sees them in his head, and with his eyes. Kevin strives for a natural approach to shooting, which helps him stay in firm control of what he creates.

By creating more documentary-style projects, he wants to present more meaningful content. Kevin believes that focusing on other artists and creatives is the best way to hear real stories, told by real people. He says, “As a documentary photographer and filmmaker, my objective is to learn more about the people in front of my lens and try to create a deeper connection. This has always helped me capture assets that look comfortable, and that are full of emotions. I feel that as an artist, the best I can do is to create a safe space for others to truly express themselves and their feelings, the same way I do. Most of these connections have developed into greater friendships, and that is all I could ask for.”
