Meet Ang
Ang Geck Geck (also known as Priscilla) (she/her) is a filmmaker based in Singapore. A graduate of School of Art Design Media and Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, she has directed a variety of short films and commercial projects. Her work contrasts her society’s commitment to education and science with its conservative cultural beliefs.
For her Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund commission, Priscilla is also developing a project focusing on breastfeeding, which is often stigmatized in Asia. Her work will reflect on the beauty and loving connection between mothers and infants, but also discrimination. “In Asia, breastfeeding is still a very uncomfortable topic for many, whether it be at home or in public, and women are often shamed by trying to feed their children,” she says. “I wanted to create these collections to show women's bodies in a new light—not just as a sexual object, but also a source of life and love.”
In 2019, Priscilla was appointed as The NXT Head of Juries for The Crowbar Awards under Film and Photography. Her debut short film series, Another Day in Paradise, has been widely praised.
