“I’m looking to present an honest, super fresh portrayal of modern queer families and relationships. I hope to empower the queer community and strengthen their sense of belonging, showing people that they can experience a healthy and long-lasting relationship.”
Meet Andy
Andy Connell (he/him) is a 26-year-old queer photographer and filmmaker based in Gold Coast, Australia. His work focuses on documenting authentic queer love and experiences primarily through weddings. He aims to portray the diversity and intimacy of each couple he captures, with a unique perspective that some people may have yet to witness. He is committed to reaffirming that queer families and relationships stand parallel with their heterosexual counterparts and offer the same undying love.
With the recent passing of the same-sex marriage bill in Australia, and other countries around the world, Andy aims to create dynamic imagery to inspire the next generation of queer youth to chase after their “happily ever after” in love. As a wedding filmmaker, he has collaborated with Theodore Wedding Magazine, Australia’s leading queer wedding magazine and directory. “I’m looking to present an honest, super fresh portrayal of modern queer families and relationships. I hope to empower the queer community and strengthen their sense of belonging, showing people that they can experience a healthy and long-lasting relationship.” Andy also has a passion for creating documentary-style work for local NGOs that help people who need mental health support.
