Adjust the hue, saturation, or lightness of a specific color in your photo.

Try it out with the sample autumn landscape photo to make the muted leaf colors more vibrant, or follow the steps on a photo of your own.

Add the sample photo.

Download sample file

If you’d like to use the sample photo, download the zip file above using the button above and make note of where you save it on your computer. Once you’ve saved the file, unzip it, then open Lightroom Classic. Choose File > Import Photos and Video and use the panel on the left side to select it on your hard drive.

Start editing.

In the Develop module, click the tabs to adjust Hue, Saturation, or Luminance individually. Or, click All to see the HSL settings in one view.

Experiment with the color sliders for Hue, Saturation, and Luminance settings in the HSL/Color panel to give the colors a more pronounced look.

Change a specific color with Target Adjustment.

Not sure which HSL sliders to use? Target Adjustment enables you to select a spot in the photo that has the color you want to edit.

Turn on the Target Adjustment tool in the Tools menu at the top of the app in the Develop module. Select Tools > Target Adjustment > Hue, Saturation, or Luminance. Once you select any of those 3 options, you’ll see the Target Adjustment button appear in the HSL panel as shown below.

Choose the Targeted Adjustment tool in the HSL panel and drag in the area of the photo you want to edit. Lightroom Classic moves the appropriate sliders as needed.
